The Mellow Mushroom is a gourmet pizza place with a loyal following among Clemson University students and professors.

The Mellow Mushroom uses all-natural ingredients and dough. The building itself is amusing - it was apparently an old frat house, and they cut away the floor to the second level so you can see some old rooms and furniture above you while you dine. Hard to explain. It also has a patio for outdoor dining.

There are two major downsides to the Mushroom. One, it's expensive, and two, the service is slow. Expect no less than a 15 minute wait for drinks, and a 30-45 minute wait for your food after you order it. Despite these cons, the Mushroom remains popular.
