Lawrence R. Allen is the Dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Development. Allen joined the faculty in 1989, previously having headed the Leisure Studies Department at the University of Illinois and chairing the Recreation and Leisure Studies Department at Temple University. He was re-appointed Dean of the College on April 5, 2006. He has previously served as Professor, Department Chair, Associate Dean, Interim Dean, and for the past five years, as Dean. "Our college has a unique distinction in that all of our degree and non-degree granting units relate to preparing professionals and providing services that directly enhance quality of life for individuals, families and communities. We have a responsibility to serve the students, faculty and public. The creative ideas emanating from this college and our programs will propel us to greater levels of effectiveness and significance on campus, within the state and nationally." Allen was quoted as saying upon his re-appointment [1].
