- Doloran, a private home in Pendleton, is built by J. Norton Hunter. In the 1970s and 1980s it will house the Pendleton House restaurant.
- October 10: "The residence on the plantation known as 'Keowee' in this County, formerly the residence of Col. John E. Calhoun [sic], but now the property of Dr. O. M. Doyle, of Toccoa City, Ga., and occupied by Benj. C. Crawford, was burned on Sunday evening last [this date] at 5 o'clock.
