Acropolis

Acropolis was an excellent, moderately priced, Greek/Italian food restaurant, located next to TD's at the corner of College Ave and SC 93. It offered a range of salads, subs, pizzas, Gyros, and Mediterranean dishes, along with fast and friendly service. Acropolis renovated to add a bar inside circa 2005. While this somewhat cramped the eating space, it could then be classified as an actual bar.

Throughout the 1960s and into the mid-1970s, this building was occupied by a pool hall. When it closed circa 1976, it was reopened as a convenience store named The Store. When this business closed after two or three years, the space was converted into a restaurant.

The Acropolis Pizzeria display ad in the October 1985 Southern Bell yellow pages (page 133) gave its operating hours as 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., seven days a week. Pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, salads, subs, gyros, souvlakia, beer and wine were listed as was "free delivery."

This restaurant has closed down and been replaced by Griffin's Sports Bar & Grill, who remodelled the building in the summer of 2007.
