• 1894: The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association is founded by Dr. William Dudley, Dean of the Vanderbilt University Medical College. The original members included Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Vanderbilt. Clemson, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Tulane would join a year later. • 1943: The Liberty ship SS A. Frank Lever, named for United States Senator and Clemson Life Trustee Asbury Francis Lever, is delivered at 3:00 p.m. by Southeastern Shipbuilding Corporation, Savannah, Georgia, one of 88 Libertys the yard built.
• 1978: Mid-year graduation.
• 1985: In the Tiger's first bowl appearance since the end of probation, they meet the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Poulan Weed-Eater Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana., but lose, 17-21, for a season record of 6-6, 4-3 in conference for third place in the ACC.
• 2005 - Owner of Death Valley Exxon, located on the northwest corner of Tiger Boulevard and College Avenue since 1980, announces that he will close the business to merge with Oconee Auto Service in Seneca. Site will be redeveloped into a Sonic Drive-In in early 2006. Newly merged service center will have more expertise than two smaller garages, and will operate in the former Sears-Roebuck catalogue store at 302 West North First Street in Seneca. The combined business, Oconee Auto Service, is defunct by September 2009, the former Sears building up for rent.
• 2006: Graduation held.
• 2008: The 25th-ranked Clemson Men's basketball team defeats Miami, 91-72, in a roadgame, the ACC opener for both teams. K.C. Rivers scored 28 points, and Terrence Oglesby had 17 points. The Tigers are currently 12-0, 1-0 in conference, and are tied with Pittsburgh for first place in Division 1 basketball. The game was broadcast on Comcast Sports Network.
