Dr. Jerome Vincent Reel, Jr. was a long-time Professor of History at Clemson University, serving as head of the Department of History, Faculty Senate president, as well as Senior Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Studies. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1960, and his Master of Arts in 1961 at the University of Southern Mississippi. Dr. Reel earned his PhD at Emory University in 1967. He has authored or co-authored many historical volumes, and is still active as Professor Emeritus of History with the Office of the University Historian, Special Collections, Cooper Library, and can be frequently found engaged in research in the Special Collections at the Strom Thurmond Institute. He is a member of Tiger Brotherhood.

He is active with Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, and has compiled a history of that institution.
