Mazzio's Pizza was another short-lived pizza joint that opened in Victoria Square in the mid 1980s. The October 1985 Southern Bell yellow pages advert (page 134) advised "get into the thick of it." A display advert in the January 30, 1987 issue of The Tiger (page 6), listed a $3.59 buffet Monday-Wednesday nights from 5 to 8 p.m., and contained two coupons, one for a free Mazzio's Free-Fill cup (Monday-Tuesday, 5-9 p.m.) and a $2.50 off a large pizza, or $1.50 off a medium pizza - "offer good on Mazzio's Thin, Original, or Deep Pan Pizza." The ad advised students to "look for Mazzio's bonus coupon in your University directory."

Advertising in the October 1987 Southern Bell yellow pages with the slogan "the BEST any way you slice it," when there were no fewer than six other pizza restaurants in competition with it in Clemson (Acropolis, Chanelo's, Columbo's, Domino's, Pizza Hut and Pizza Pub), it would be gone from the scene by 1992. The market will only carry so many outlets of a particular cuisine...
