The South Carolina Botanical Gardens is a 295-acre garden that started off as a small parcel of John C. Calhoun's 19th Century Fort Hill estate. It has grown into full fledge garden featuring nature walking trails, small ponds, and numerous niche gardens. In 1992 the gardens were designated as the official State Botanical Gardens. The South Carolina Botanical Gardens is located at the intersection of Pearman Boulevard and US 76.
