"Found not guilty" implies there was a trial and he was charged - I don't think he was ever charged. I think it should just say "After an investigation, no charges were filed." unless the results of the investigation were published and, as Andrew claims, 'no wrongdoing was found'.

Exactly...to be found not guilty implies that charges were filed.
