Westminster, South Carolina, is a town located in Oconee County, astride the Norfolk Southern Railroad. It was founded in 1874 and incorporated on March 17, 1875, shortly after the Atlanta and Richmond Air Line Railway, later the Southern Railway, opened rail service through the county on September 4, 1873.

Westminster's peak period of growth came in the 1920s.
