The Library Club
The Library Club, a private nightspot, was another in a series of short-lived clubs in Clemson. It opened on April 19, 1975, on US 123 By-pass across from the train station, and immediately east of Lamar's. The manager was Charles "Spoon" Huggins. For the next year or so it was considered very trendy among students to carry a "Library Card". But, like so many other new-start businesses in the college town, the level of trade was not sufficient to carry it, and it closed by the fall of 1977.
It was replaced by Fat Cat's Disco, which would, in turn, fail, only this time the owner would resort to a very amateurish arson attempt on January 17, 1978, to rid himself of the concern.
