Nancy Jacobs Qualls

Nancy Jacobs Qualls was the first female editor-in-chief of The Tiger. She was elected to the position in March 1973, and again in March 1974. She was the first Tiger editor to publish more than fifty issues of the paper. She received an English BA in 1975. She went onto a successful journalism career, working at the Charleston News and Courier in the early 1980s. She now works for Microsoft. She is married to Clemson grad Harry Franklin "Frank" Qualls, Class of 1975, in Agronomy. Frank was active in student government while at Clemson, serving as ombudsman. They live in Redmond, Washington, and have a teen-aged son. Nancy attended the Centennial reunion of Tiger staffers in March 2007.
