Friar's Tavern is the name of the latest business to occupy the property opposite Lower Fike Field on the Old Greenville Highway formerly operating as Flip Flops. A full-service restaurant that operates six days a week, it also offers carry-out.

The Friar's Tavern Clemson location also host weekly events. On Mondays, it is Service Industry Night with drink specials for anyone who works in the service industry, be it a bar or restaurant. On Tuesdays, it is 'Tini and Tequila Tuesday with $2 martini drink specials and tequila in the $2-5 range. On Wednesdays, Friar's hosts an APA Pool League team, the Drinking Team with a Pool Problem. On Thursdays, Friar's showcases live bands and DJs from the local area. On Fridays, Friar's hosts a bike night with poker runs for charitable organizations. On Saturday nights, Friar's hosts an Open Mic Night with local talent.

The business began operating on August 30, 2010 with a "soft" opening.

As of March 2012, the business has undergone a change in management, although under the same ownership. The building itself is owned by the former managers of Flip Flops. Jeremi Gelinas, who has managed at YNK and The Bengal Tiger, is the current manager.

By June 2012, one owner has bought out the other partner, with manager Gelinas' contract and staff unrenewed. As evidence of this sagacious ownership move, the joint has been closed up tight in July 2012.

The business reopened July 23, 2012, under new manager Mike Grothe.

In April 2014, the business changed management and was renamed Larry's, after the new operator, a former manager at Friar's Tavern.
